Activities
“Row, Row, Row, Your Boat”
One of the absolute most fun rhymes you can sing is “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” with an alligator twist! I also use it for yoga storytime and it always makes everyone laugh! Use an alligator puppet for extra screams!
“Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
And if you see an alligator
Don’t forget to scream!
AHHH!
Counting Apple Tree
Sometimes I can be “so extra.” This flannel is an example (see my tag flannels so extra). However, I am not ashamed. It was a huge hit and made a fun toy for playtime!
We sang two songs with this flannel board apple tree–
“10 Little Apples”
1 little, 2 little, 3 little apples,
4 little, 5 little, 6 little apples,
7 little, 8 little, 9 little apples
10 little apples on the apple tree!
“Picking Apples”
There are 10 little apples on my apple tree
Won’t you come and pick them with me?
Apples taste yum, yum, yum,
Why don’t we pick just one?
PLOP
Jump up like a kangaroo
And let’s pick two!
PLOP, PLOP
What is that up high, I see?
Let’s pick three!
PLOP, PLOP, PLOP
Oh, how I want so many more!
We better pick four!
PLOP, PLOP, PLOP, PLOP
Now all the apples have disappeared.
Bye, bye apple tree
I’ll see you next year!
Conclusion
I am very excited about this series. My storytimes have been less fun these past few weeks for reasons I cannot grasp, but today I felt like a brand new librarian! Ready for a fun, energetic season!
