Activities
Where Are You Little Chick?
I found this activity at Jen in the Library. However, I did it slightly differently. I put a differet “E” object under each egg so we could practice out “e” sound more. Besides little chick, we had an elephant, eggplant, elf, cooked egg, and an eagle. Simple recite the following line before turning over each egg.
“Little chick, little chick,
Are you in the (color) egg?”
“Five Elephants in the Bathtub”
A flannel from Storytime Katie. I actually made a little bathtub to put the elephants in! So cute! I like this rhyme because of the simple actions that are totally accessible for tots.
“Five Elephants in the Bathtub”
One elephant in the bathtub
Going for a swim.
Knock, Knock, (Clap twice with “Knock, Knock.”)
Splash, Splash, (Slap knees twice with “Splash, Splash.”)
Come on in! (Motion with both hands to come in.)
two, three, four…
Five elephants in the bathtub
Going for a swim.
Knock, Knock,
Splash, Splash,
They all fell in!
“I Know a Chicken”
This is a shaker song. Give every child an egg shaker and practice listening and motor skils!
“I Know a Chicken”
Oh, I know a chicken and she laid an egg
Oh, I know a chicken and she laid an egg
Oh my goodness, it’s a shaky egg!
Shake your eggs fast!
(fast, slow, in a circle, etc.)
