This storytime is a part of my ABC Storytimes series.
I planned this lesson in a rush, but it still went very well!

“I Wish I Was a Silly Slippery Snake”
This was so fun to sing because it is such a tongue twister!!! A great way to encourage the tots to make the “-ssss-” sound.
Oh I wish I was a silly slippery snake HISS HISS
Oh I wish I was a silly slippery snake HISS HISS
I’d slither across the floor
Then I’d slip under the door
Oh I wish I was a silly slippery snake HISS HISS
Sock Sorting Flannel
This was the best ever! I got the idea for this flannel from Miss Mary Liberry, but I also incorporated a rhyme with it that we sang to the tune of “Friere Jacques” before pulling out our matching socks. The kids loved this so much, that I kept the cardboard dryer and socks as a toy for play time.
Sock Sorting Rhyme
Little green sock,
Little green sock,
Where are you?
Where are you?
We have to match you up
We have to match you up
Yes we do
Yes we do
“Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”
There are several classic children’s songs to sing for a letter “S” storytime. To liven things up, use the ASL sign for “twinkle” throughout this song.
“Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Big, Hairy Spider”
Another classic for letter “s” “Spider.” Use a spider puppet and change the words for extra fun.
